I was attending a wedding at the hotel next door, so I didn't have to travel far.

The Ailsa Craig is a lovely hotel in a great location for exploring Edinburgh. Myself and my partner would defiantly stay again. We experienced excellent service from all the staff members and they were all more than happy to help and answer any questions you may have. The only down side to the hotel is that it doesn’t have a lift. Which normally wouldn’t be an issue however we were on the top floor of the hotel and my partner does have difficulty climbing stair. However in the hotels defence we didn’t highlight this issue to them and I’m sure if they would have had another room available they would have been more than happy to move us. Our room was lovely though and offered great views of the city.

Andrew and the rest of the staff were friendly, helpful, very accommodating--they made staying there a true pleasure. The room, breakfast, free wifi (w/out any signal problems too) were all very good. The location was pretty convenient to the train station and city centre.

Location is good (central), breakfast was good and staff were pleasant.
No lift. 70 stairs to room, not for the elderly or infirm. En-suite was extremely small and dirty. In need of refurbishment.

We liked the location, as it was within easy walking distance of the city center. We also liked the beautiful 18th century building.

The hotel was perfectly situated for a short stay in Edinburgh - easy walking distance from all major sites. Very nice room - small but perfectly adequate for short stopover. Pleasant and helpful staff. Good breakfast!

A comfortable, friendly, relaxed, three star hotel in a beautiful and very convenient location. There is all-day parking at modest cost on the street nearby.
Our rooms were very small (but charming).

The hotel is set in a fantastic location. Very close to the busy city centre, when you reach royal terrace it feels like you are in another city. It is very quiet and has parks to the front and rear. Our room was spacious with a good view and a flat screen tv. The bathroom was fine but maybe a bit too small for some people. The breakfast was great, seeing as it's included in the room price and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It also has free wi-fy.
