I recently stayed at a 4-star hotel in the heart of the city and had a truly enjoyable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were friendly and accommodating, always ready to meet any request I had. The room, although a little on the dark side, was comfortable and cozy. The ironing facilities and hair dryer provided were a plus, ensuring convenience during my stay. The private bathroom with shower and bathtub was clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall comfort of the room. Additionally, the central heating kept the room at a perfect temperature, making it ideal for relaxation after a long day of exploring the city.
All in all, this place is recommended for families who are looking for a comfortable and convenient stay.

It was clean and warm. Staff were helpful and friendly. Close to great shopping and subway stations. And good value for money in comparison to other hotels in NY.
Quite possibly the world's slowest elavator.

Location
The bathroom was disgusting, and there were stains on the bedclothes. The hotel was very loud with music playing all night. The carpet was ravelling, and the bathroom consistently smelled of urine.

Low price for N Y City - it is pretty primitive, but you get what you pay for
One bathroom, down the hall, for each floor

the staff was super friendly and accommodating, always willing to help with whatever we needed. the hotel was located in a safe area, close to all the main attractions we wanted to visit. the room was really comfortable, and even though it was a bit dark, we didn't find that to be a problem. the best part? the bed was wrapped in plastic, which actually gave us peace of mind about cleanliness.
None we had a fantastic stay and didn't have any negative experiences to speak of. We weren't expecting luxury, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel exceeded our expectations.

Everytime I had a concern or question the staff was friendly and prompt to get me my answer and make me feel like me and my family mattered. This hotel is not listed as a 5 star but I give it 5 stars for friendly staff, ready to help with any need you have. The room was very small but our stay was short and we planned on not being in the hotel room much anyway but when we were it was pleasant. Seemed clean and very neat. It was built in or around the 1950's but it was painted and decorated very up to date. I would recommend this hotel to everyone on a short stay. You have to share a bathroom with fellow patrons but there was no one ever waiting or rude and the bathroom stayed well kept.
The beds (not mattresses) need to be updated.

I liked the fact that it was right in the city and fairly close to everything.
I didn't like the fact that the bathroom was shared. The hotel needs to be updated to include bathrooms in each room. The airconditioner was old and should be updated as well. Other than that I was okay.

It was clean and you can't beat the location. We had a tiny bedroom with shared bathroom but for the price, you can't expect the Ritz!
Maybe I am wrong but it felt like a lot of people were living there which took away the hotel feel and made me a little uncomfortable.

The room and the toilet were lovely and clean.
Noise in the morning time. A room was being converted across from the room

We didn't mind the plastic-wrapped mattresses; it didn't affect our sleep after a long day of sightseeing. the staff was pleasant and accommodating, meeting every request. the location was safe and conveniently close to all the tourist attractions we wanted to visit. the area offered everything we needed for a memorable trip.
The room was a bit dark, but thankfully there were alarm clocks to help us wake up in the morning.

This was a great budget find. I recommend it for backpackers and young adults on a budget who don't mind giving up some of the nicer amenities. The staff members were usually kind and helpful, and the room was clean. The best part is the location. Just a block from the N line - not too far from Union Square Park (or anywhere you need to be!)
When choosing a budget location, there are certainly some things you have to give up. There is only shared bathroom per floor, and it is only big enough for one person at a time. This is especially annoying in the middle of the night. The elevator is extremely slow - but I didn't mind taking the stairs (down). Additionally, the room is modest. My room looked out at a building about 7 feet away, and I had little sunlight. Rooms do not have individual thermostats for the heat and the room got very warm!

Best value and location there is!
Latham Hotel wasn't the prettiest there is, but if what you're looking for is location and value then I would recommend it. That said, if you plan on spending a lot of time in your hotel room - this probably isn't the place for you.
Tourists from United States of America often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
