Learn how Macy’s has grown to be America’s largest department store, with over 800 locations and more than 150 years of retailing history. Originally Marshall Fields, Macy’s on State Street offers an experience like no other. Tour highlights include the breathtaking Tiffany vaulted ceiling, the graceful Burnham fountain, the world-renowned Walnut Room restaurant, and a taste of our famous Frango® Mint Chocolates. Tours cost $10 per person and require a minimum of 10 participants. Each guest will receive a Macy’s Visitor Savings Pass.
Educational Store Tour

Macy’s offers educational groups a fun, fast and fact-filled store tour. Learn how Macy’s has grown into America’s largest department store with over 800 locations from its humble beginnings, over 150 years. Our knowledgeable tour guides can cater to different group sizes and age groups as they discuss history, marketing concepts, merchandising, visual techniques, and more. Tours cost $12 per person, and require a minimum of 10 participants. Each guest will receive a Macy’s Visitor Savings Pass.
Holiday Traditions (November-December)
Guided Group Tour- 60 mins
Each year throughout the store a new Christmas theme comes to life, awakening the spirit of the holiday season. This tour includes the history of Macy’s holiday traditions like the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, animated store window displays, a taste of Frango® Mint Chocolates, and of course the 2-story Great Tree, dressed with 15,000 dazzling lights and 1,200 themed ornaments in the world-famous Walnut Room. Tours cost $12 per person and require a minimum of 10 participants. Each guest will receive a Macy’s Visitor Savings Pass.

Macy’s Breakfast Fashion Show
Private Group Program- 90 mins
Whether an in-season style demonstration or a full-on runway show, Macy’s can offer your group the ultimate fashion experience! While learning about the latest fashion trends, guests will enjoy a private buffet-style breakfast in Chicago’s famous Walnut Room or lunch in one of Macy’s on State’s signature event spaces. Each guest will also receive a Macy's Chicago tote bag, Visitor Savings Pass and gift card. Event space and pricing is based on availability and number of participants. Models, stage and lighting are optional and will incur an additional cost.
Dine & Demo
Private Group Program- 90 mins
Taste what Macy’s chefs are cooking up and learn to make them in a demonstration or instructional course that is sure to delight! Learn to prepare the recipes of our State Street favorites like the famous Frango Mint Pie and Mrs. Hering's Chicken Pot Pie to name a few. Or, we can create a customized menu catered to your group’s taste. To top it off, enjoy the completed dishes in a private dining experience. Each guest will receive a Macy's Chicago tote bag including a Visitor Savings Pass. Cost varies based on number of participants, type of demonstration and menu selection.
Cosmetic Master Class

Let a Macy’s makeup artist guide your group by providing the best application tips and techniques, cosmetics and colors to create their own unique look. All participants will receive a Visitor Savings Pass. Cost varies based on number of guests. Food and beverages are optional and will incur an additional cost.
Macy’s Modern Man
Group Program- 45 mins
From pairing the perfect tie and pocket square to getting that precise shave, let a Macy’s stylist and skin care expert groom and guide your group to create the latest look of the Macy’s modern man. Walnut Room (7th Floor)
Opened in 1907, it's one of Chicago's most beloved landmarks. You can still sit by the 17-foot marble fountain, amid the original Circassian Walnut paneling and Austrian chandeliers and enjoy a traditional potpie made from Mrs. Hering's original recipe. For additional information, click here.
Select from more than 100 wines by the bottle and dozens by the glass along with interesting starters. Opened in the Walnut Room's centennial year, it features a handsome wine bar and 36-foot communal Walnut table.
